Holidays on the Port side!

It has been a busy month for us just like it is for everyone, everywhere. I thought I was doing so good with my Christmas preparations this year, having the majority of my shopping done two weeks before Christmas That is super early for me! I just had little things to do and baking. I should have known it was too good to be true. On the 14th Kyle got sick and each day continued to get worse. By the 16th we had to take him to the ER and that is where, off and on, we spent the next 3 days. And then the Dr.'s office the next 2. Yep, now I was completely behind. But, you don't really think about those things when you have a sick kid and they can't find what is wrong. Long story short, he ended up having pneumonia along with a bad case of the flu. Once he got on the right medication, he started to improve. Suddenly making cream cheese breads for the neighbors and getting stocking stuffers didn't seem like that big of a deal. We were just extremely grateful to have our Kyle back to normal. Without further ado, pictures!

Santa rides a Harley!

Santa came to the Harley dealership last weekend and of course we had to go see him. I told the kids where we were going and they were a bit confused. "Santa does NOT have a motorcycle" Aiden said. "Yes he does, he is going to ride it today" I told him. "He does not have one Mom!" This went on for quite some time before I just told them that it was new this year and he just got it. That seemed to satisfy him. Kyle just thought it was cool that he had one. He didn't care when he bought it or how long he had owned the thing. Santa earned cool points with this one in his eyes. Aiden needs details, facts.

So, if you are going to a Harley dealership to see Santa, you can't show up in your vehicle! So of course the guys had to ride separate on their bikes and met us there.

Waiting for Santa to arrive!

Here he comes!!

Kyle telling Santa what he wanted. Luckily he asked for things that had already been purchased. :)
Aiden was a little shy to get on his lap. Could he possibly be getting too big for this?? Surely not yet. At least I hope not.

There is no picture of Ryleigh because she screamed when we even got near Santa and I failed to take a picture of that. She told me today "I don't yike Santa."

Trimming the Tree

A fun time to bring a tree into your house and do your best to make it stand straight in a stand, spend hours untangling lights and trying to replace bulbs, only to go out to the store and buy more when you realize it is impossible. Next you put on the newly bought lights on only to realize you started at the wrong end and now you can't plug them in to the wall. Ahhh. This is supposed to be fun! And it was, after we got past the initial setting up part!
Then there is the ornament throwing from the youngest member of the family. This year she broke two special ornaments. I guess that is not too bad. They are only things.
Each kid placing their ornaments at the bottom of the tree, which is where most of the them were placed and stayed. :)

I kept telling them to try and not put them all at the bottom, and they tried! I caught Aiden lifting Kyle up to reach a little higher height! :)Time for the angel. This photo is staged.... I missed the real thing.

What is the Port kids favorite thing about decorating the tree? The cookies of course! Ryleigh had to work very hard not the eat one of these cookies before she was supposed to.

Relaxing after it was all done, probably watching a hunting show. Jason subjects us all to his hunting obsession. We have to watch Dan Fritzgerald shoot fish out of a moving boat with a bow and arrow. Fun times!

Our finished product. All that is missing is the fire in the fireplace, but it was too hot for that, and it is not hooked up yet.The extent of our outside decorating this year.

Christmas Eve with Chris and Chelly and Christmas morning pictures to come!!
