4th of July

We braved the crowds last night and took the boys to see the fireworks on Parris Island. They open the base up to the public, so it was packed. Jason didn't want to be around recruits (who get to watch the fireworks on the ground of the parade deck), so we parked behind the All Weather Training Facility, right beside the parade deck, in a grassy area. We met some friends there and waited for the fireworks to begin. Aiden was so excited about the "fireworkers" as he calls fireworks. He has not seen fireworks for two years when we lived in PA, but he remembered them and couldn't wait. When the fireworks began we didn't realize that we had picked the best seats on the island. The fireworks went off directly in front of us! Aiden was yelling 'Awesome!!', Kyle was freaking out. He was not fond of the loud noise. I had to hold him with one ear against my shoulder and my hand covering his other ear. I knew that once it was over though he would talk like he loved it, and sure enough as soon as it was over he was chattin' away about how high in the sky they were. As we were leaving Aiden said "That was better than watching Superheros!" Mighty big statement coming from Aiden.

Hope everyone had a great holiday!!
